Free first interviews do not necessarily mean lower overall legal costs. Our experience is that our overall costs to resolve matters are usually substantially lower.
Beware the cheap “quote” to prepare or explain documents. Ask why they are able to do it so cheaply. You may find that they assess the matter as requiring little work from them. If so, why are you being required to attend upon a lawyer to have documents prepared or explained. Usually this is because the government has assessed that what is required is of a degree of importance and complexity that it needs to be done properly to protect your interests. The lawyer offering a cheap fixed fee compared to that charged by an experienced family lawyer may be under-estimating what is required. You need to be advised that compliance with the law is being achieved by the documents and that the documents achieve what you understand to be the agreement.
